Differential Backup

    Differential Backup

    Hi,

    Every time when I start diff. backup it goes full. First time it goes full backup and then when it should go diff., again starts full. Here are the two logs :
    Backup is on SAN LUN.

    First ( full) :

    Do you have an open snap shot on the VM? You should also try and update to the latest version of vRanger. If you still have issues try and rename your vRanger MDB.

    Thx Jmattox,

    I think the problem is because of open snapshot. Can you please explain me that a little bit more?
    I tried to backup different VM where there is no snapshot at all, and it worked. So what's the catch ?

    To perform diff backups we need files that are static in nature, we are doing checksums on blocks of a file x size in bytes. The base VMDK will be this way, but your open snap shot will not and its checksum will change because of the nature of snap shots are growing files. Thus diff backups of VM's with open snap shots are not supported.
